Capture sports, wildlife, concerts, landmarks—any faraway subjects—with phenomenal clarity and precision. But this lens isn’t just about getting closer. Its superb optics and telephoto field of view produce beautiful portraits with softly blurred backgrounds. Portable Super-Telephoto Power Versatile 70–300Mm Focal Length
The AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR is a phenomenal second lens and picks up where your 18-55mm lens leaves off. Compact and lightweight yet with a powerful zoom, it will help bring the most distant subjects into focus. Capture stunning close-ups of sports, wildlife, concerts, school events and so much more.
Sharp Photos, Steady Videos VR Image Stabilization
Nikon’s Vibration Reduction* (VR) image stabilization keeps photos sharp and videos steady when shooting handheld. It also enhances your camera’s low-light capabilities, allowing you to shoot at slower shutter speeds in dim lighting. Switch between Auto Focus and Manual Focus or turn VR on and off using the camera menu**. With no switches on the lens barrel, you have no chance of accidentally changing settings when you want to take the shot.
Smooth, Fast Autofocus
The AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR uses a pulse motor (utilizing stepping motors) that focuses extremely fast and is nearly silent. Bring subjects into focus instantly with absolute precision. When recording video, smoothly shift focus from subject to subject with practically no drive noise.

Excellent with some limitations.
I’ll cover the aspects of this lens from a practical perspective. The specs can be had from the internet.FINISH & BUILD:All plastic, but very well finished. The zoom ring is much superior to Nikon’s other lens in this price range- smooth, well damped and clear notches at either ends. While the lens has a plastic mount, it should last years if one uses it with respect.AF SPEED:I’ll compare the AF speed of this lens with 3 others: the 55-200 VR, the 70-300VR (AF-S) and the USD/USM from Tamron and Canon.Compared to the 55-200/55-300, there is no competition. This AF-P blows them out of the water.Compared to the 70-300 AF-S, the practical difference is marginal. While the AF-P is much faster (3-4x) than the AF-S if you rack from minimum to infinity, the AF-S is almost as fast in the real world where focusing involves the lens moving in smaller distances. So if you have a 70-300 AF-S, stick to it. The AF-P seems faster as it does not jerk like the AF-S does when focusing.Compared to Canon’s USM and Tamron’s USD, the speed is about the same. The AF-P seems slightly slower than the Canon STMs.Low light AF is poor, compared to Tamron’s f/6.3 lens. Strange that Nikon could not ensure better compatibility. My Tamron 150-600 works better on the D5200 at f/6.3, than the AF-P works with the D7200.FOCUS RESET ISSUE:Most of you would have read that the AF-P works on some Nikon DSLRs (like the D5200) but the focus resets after the meter goes to sleep. In reality, the focus does NOT reset when the meter goes to sleep. When you re-acquire focus after the meter goes to sleep, the lens first goes to infinity and then reacquires focus. This takes about 0.5 sec and robs the lens of the advantages of its otherwise excellent AF speed. You can reduce the impact by extending the standby timers to 30m in custom settings.VR and Weight:VR seems good. It seems to work well in panning as well. So the inability to switch off VR in some Nikon models is not a minus. However, the light weight of this lens makes it a mismatch in the heavier DSLRs (like D7200, etc.) as the AF point shifts ever so slightly doe to the shutter vibrations, a problem that heavier lens like the 70-300 AF-S do not have (their extra weight help in stabilizing the shooting action). I would recommend this lens strictly with the lighter Nikon bodies.SHARPNESS & COLOR:Compared to the 70-300 AF-S, the AF-P has superior sharpness at 300mm (at f/6.3) whereas the gap narrows when the AF-S is taken to f/8. Till 250mm, the AF-S holds its own.Color seems to be better on the AF-S. Depth in color shades is much better on the AF-S. The AF-P glass seems to be of the cheaper versions as used in the older 55-200. If micro-contrast is important, choose the AF-S.SUMMARY:If you have a lighter Nikon (D3300+, D5200+), this lens is a no-brainer. Its cheap, light, and transforms the cameras. You may have to cope sometimes with focus lags or freezes (esp in low light), but the pros outweigh the cons.If you have a mid-range Nikon (D7200+), the AF-S is the better option. Its AF is almost as fast as the AF-P, is as sharp till 250mm, doesn’t freeze and the weight helps in stabilizing.

Awesome lense in awesome price.
So this lense is amazing. Some features like fast auto focus which is silent, clarity and sharpness make this lense best zoom lense for the beginners. Even Images produced at 300 mm remain sharp enough and you gonna love this lense. My advise for you is go for this lense if you are confused between this and other zoom+macro lense which are cheaper than this one. This lense is really sharp and you will love the pictures produced by this lense. I got this lense in the sale at very awesome price including the instant 10% sbi discount with timely delivery. Thankyou amazon for such a great deal. And yes this lense is original and doesn’t comes in blank box. It comes in nikon box. Somehow i am not able to attach more pictures as i am interested in posting more pictures to show you the picture quality.

Stability while capturing, fabulous image quality.
I received the product after one day from ordering in Amazon. Thanks to the delivery service.I wanted to buy a telephoto zoom lens for my Nikon D5300 at limited budget. I was so much confused which telephoto lens to buy. Three thing I considered for my buying was the sharpness of image at highest zoom, stability of the lens while capturing and autofocus speed of the lens. Credit goes to the new AF system AF-P of Nikon lenses. Hence it will not disappoint you while shooting in AF mode. The sharpness of the images at 300mm are same with that in 70mm. While I was capturing the moon at 300 mm after pressing the shutter button halfway the image got stabilized to great extent and I was able to capture with great accuracy without using tripod. The image of the moon has been cropped for your understanding the sharpness and still it is too much clear. Great lens by Nikon at affordable price. Go for it, it will not disappoint you. I have not found any cons.

Seller’s genuinity is questionable.Product seems good .
I have a mixed feeling buying this lens. I ordered it from kasper which is a prime seller of amazon but when I received it I found it is sold buy some other seller named digital world which was not even in the seller list of this lens .This kind of thing is strongly not appreciated. Now about the package-the box was a nikon box by look, this was sealed from the frontside with a two years warranty seal but rear side was tampered and it is found some one opened the box from rear side and manually sealed it .If you buy any lens from nikon dealers you never find it like this.Alsothe filter size of this lens is wrongly printed on this box it is printed 52mm whitch should be 58mm.It is somehow unrealistic that brand like nikon will do such silly mistake. So the genuinity of the product off course is questionable.Any how nikon india 2 years warranty card was in the box.The lens it self looks brand new with new rubber smell. It was found scratchless on body and lens front element.Fitted smoothly to D5200 body and detected without any error message.Photograph information in nikon view nxII software shows that it is nikon AF-P 70-300mm ed lens and the VR is on.lens sharpness is very good.Auto focus is fast enough but not as fast that it can track a series of crane flying in the sky or a moving butterfly. Autofocus operation is near about soundness.Manual focus override works.Lens flare is almost nil. If it is original ,good future output can be expected.

But like all lenses this lens has its own merits and …
Nikon AF-P 70-300 f4.5-6.3G ED VR DX is a worthy lens on Nikon DX DSLR cameras. But like all lenses this lens has its own merits and demerits.Be careful before you buy this lens, because this lens do not work with many recent Nikon DSLRs. I have provided compatibility information in this review.Pros:• New Auto focus motor AF-P is a Pulse/Stepper type which results in very silent and faster auto focus. This AF-P motor is better than AF-S lens. AF-P type lens is particularly useful for making Video without any focus noise. Video with AF-S lens will have some kind of focus noise whenever focus changes.• Light weight and compact Lens with ED element and VR. (Note: Same lens without VR option is available; do not buy the lens without VR option). VR is helpful is reducing handshake effects on final image, particularly at longer focal lengths( means longer zoom)• Price is attractive if you buy at around 15k to 16k. This lens is also available as Kit lens with some Nikon DSLR models.Cons :• Lens Mount is plastic, not metal. Not a big issue if you are handling the lens with little care.• Maximum aperture of 6.3 at longer zooms like 300mm may be some limitations for some photographers. But again it’s a not big issue; you can easily overcome by playing with higher ISO or other camera settings.• In this lens, VR OFF/ON slide button is not present on Lens. Now this VR enable or disable option is moved to Camera menu. So quick change is not possible. Other VR lenses have this option on the lens itself.• Biggest negative of this lens -> This lens does not work with many recent DSLRs.Here is the information Lens compatibility & Non-compatibility with DSLRs.• For Nikon D3400, D5500, D500 works perfectly .No camera Firmware upgrade is required.• Nikon D3300, D5300, D5200 requires firmware upgrade to enable or disable VR in camera menu . Without firmware upgrade, VR option do not appear in Camera menu. There is chance that these cameras might have been upgraded to new firmware by Nikon when you buy these new DSLR models. Firmware upgrade procedure and related information is present in Nikon Website.• With Nikon D7200, D7100 VR is always enabled; there is no way to disable the VR. Firmware upgrade is not yet available (as on January 2017). Hopefully firmware upgrade may allow enable or disable of VR in camera menu like Nikon did it not for D3400 etc.• This lens do NOT work with these cameras: D3200, D3100, D3000, D7000, D5100, D5000, D300, D200, D90, D60, D50, D40. This is a big disappointment for these recent and older DSLR model owners.I hope this review is helpful. Thanks.

No second thought needed 🙂
I ordered this product through amazon prime and got it delivered in 48hours. I own a D7200 and I was skeptical of whether this works on my 7200.Only point I found missing is the ability to switch off the VR, which is not a big `no’ for me. The max aperture of 6.3 at 300mm would have been a negative without the VR. In fact the VR helps me to an extend in that it gives almost 2 stops advantage in low light.1. AFI use a tamron VC USD 70 300 that costs almost 3 times this lens. This Tamron lens was considered at par(if not better) than nikkor 70 300 VR AFS.The autofocus speed with the new little DX AFP is spot on! Jus surprised to see how silent and fast the motor is! I took some pictures of eagles on flight with AFC 3d tracking. It was very sharp(clicked around 6pm). No focus hunt at all. Just make sure the subject is near the middle of the frame. For focusing speed alone, you can get this lens.Sadly, there is no AF switch on the lens( in fact no switches at all!). This may be a problem if you do not have dedicated AF mode change switches on your body.2. VRIt certainly helps you a lot in dim-lit situations. The VC on my Tamron is equally good; but at times too much stabilization does not allow you to take back-to-back shots fast. VR in this little DX is very very good.3. HandlingIts light weight. Half as heavy as my tamron. Focus ring movt is well damped, zoom ring movt is good for an entry level lens. Plastic mount should not be a problem as this lens is light. Just make sure you don’t pick up the camera by the lens.4. CompatibilityIt is strictly a DX lens. So forget using it on FX bodies which is the reason I keep my Tamron. You can still use it on FX bodies but with many wasted pixels. Don’t know about other DX bodies, but with D7100 and D7200 you wont have any problems than those mentioned above.5. SharpnessSharp sharp sharp every where at any apertures:) At 300mm, the corners are a bit soft, otherwise better than any of the 300mm zoom lenses which costs thrice.6. Amazon Packing and deliveryAs most of the times, excellent, I got the product in an original Nikon box which was bubble wrapped into another bigger box; sans the pouch and hood.I loved this lens, and at this price, just buy it; you wont regret. Please avoid the Non-VR version
