High resolution throughout the zoom range
Five ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements and one aspherical element in a new optical design offer superb resolution and image quality throughout the zoom range. The aspherical element suppresses spherical aberration and distortion, while the ED glass elements minimise chromatic aberration, which can be a problem at super-telephoto focal lengths.
Beautiful, natural G lens bokeh
An 11-blade circular aperture mechanism adds to the beauty of the bokeh produced by this lens, making it possible to use the narrow depth of field available at super-telephoto focal lengths to produce striking images with deep, creamy G lens bokeh.
Three customisable focus hold buttons
Customisable focus hold buttons are provided in three locations 90° apart, providing easy access when shooting in horizontal orientation or vertical orientation with the camera grip up or down. Other functions can be assigned to the buttons as required.
Internal zoom supports stable shooting
An internal zoom mechanism means that the length of the lens does not change while zooming, for stable handheld operation with consistent balance. Internal zoom also means that the distance between the front element and the subject does not change.
Focus range limiter for faster focus
A focus range limiter switch makes it possible to limit the lens’s autofocus range to 2.4 to 10 metres, 10 metres to infinity or allow full-range autofocus with no limit. This can speed up autofocus in some situations by preventing the lens from focusing on subjects outside the target range.
Fast, precise AF tracks swift subjects
Sony’s DDSSM (Direct Drive SSM) system has the power and precision needed to drive the lens’s mechanism for remarkably fast, accurate focusing. High positioning accuracy means that no movement is wasted. Pinpoint autofocus is achieved with blazing speed. The DDSSM system is incredibly quiet, too.

Sharp, Powerful, Reliable
I recently purchased the Sony 200-600mm lens and I must say it’s truly best in its class. The image quality is outstanding, with sharp details and beautiful colors even at long focal lengths. It’s perfect for wildlife photography—I was able to capture some amazing shots of birds and animals with incredible clarity. The autofocus is fast and accurate, making it easy to track subjects in motion. Build quality feels solid yet smooth to handle. Definitely one of the best investments for any serious photographer. Highly recommend this lens!

Brilliant lens, top-of-the-line telephoto capabilities in good light…
Delivered in 48 hours (quite pleasantly surprised, in time for Diwali). It’s been 2 days and I haven’t done serious wildlife or any fast-event photography yet (the main purpose of my purchase) – so a very preliminary view. I use a Sony A7iii and have been shooting with native Sony/GM lenses only (24-105/f4, 85/f.18 and 70-300).Pros:1. In reasonable light, this lens is just brilliant, in fact among the very top-of-line lenses. Sweet spot is between f8-f11, the lens really brings the pictures ‘alive’.2. Focus, though not the fastest, is quick enough (shot some in dusk – at 600mm, wide open – and didn’t have problem at all)Cons:1. Heavy. Hand-held (which i do) may be impossible for long shooting sessions or when you are in a walkabout. Have ordered a sturdy monopod, just for this. The picture of the flower attached – at 400mm/f8/ss320/ISO200 – was from a physical distance of roughly 200 meters. No post-processing – straight off the camera JPEG! Taken during the early evening hours when the sun was just going down. The real adventure with this lens will perhaps begin only when travel becomes less riskier…for now will shoot birds in the garden 🙂

Lens is heavy
Lens is heavy. i have Sony mirrorless camera. I used to carry my 16mm and 200mm lenses in a pouch but i can’t do the same with 600 mm lens. it definitely needs a backpack. couldn’t hold the lens in hand for more than 5 mins. feels heavy

Received unsealed package twice
The product is great but the seller have sent the unsealed package twice 1time and upon replacement received unsealed package again with much worse condition. I would prefer buying this type of products from outside Amazon with this experience
